Job Description: Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking an experienced Cashier for their store in the Cape Town CBD, Culemborg Branch. As a Cashier, you will play a vital role in supporting customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a world-class shopping experience. Your responsibilities will include recording customer transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures with zero tolerance toward inaccuracies and fraud risk.
Essential Requirements:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
- Computer literate – MS Office
- Strong numerical skills
- Excellent command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willingness and availability to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
- Establish a professional relationship with customers
- Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Ensure compliance with customer turnover hourly rate
- Stay informed about current sales and promotions
- Maintain safety and security of colleagues and customers
- Handle cash flow and transactions securely
- Process loyalty cards and various forms of payment
- Ensure compliance with Dis-Chem’s security policies
Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of operating cash registers and maintaining cash drawers
- Ability to process sales, refunds, and payments accurately
- Strong command of English (written and oral)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Presentable with good emotional intelligence and social awareness

- Effective time management
